Reviews for Kim Hin Seafood Cafe 錦興茶室
Review highlights
Based on 462 reviewsKim Hin Seafood Cafe 錦興茶室 is well-regarded for its authentic Chinese seafood and traditional dishes, attracting a loyal local following. Commonly praised for flavorful options such as curry assam fish, black tofu, and mui choy pork, the cafe offers generous portions at reasonable prices. Customers appreciate the variety beyond the standard menu, with many highlighting the abundance of vegetable dishes and quick, friendly service. While mostly enjoyed, some items like roasted knuckles and certain vegetable preparations receive mixed feedback. The cafe’s roadside location near ample parking and its popularity often result in long queues during peak dining hours, underscoring its reputation as a favored family and group dining spot in Gelugor, Pulau Pinang.
It is located by the roadside, near to the U- hotel. We reached there before 7pm and got one last table available for us. Overall, the black taufu and curry assam fish are tasty and not salty. But the pork lard sweet potato leaf is not nice. The pork lard is not crispy and fragrant enough, while the potato leaf is also quite hard. Once we finished eating at 7:30pm, there are long queues outside the shop. Will definitely come again next time to try their other dishes.
We came with a group of 7. Ordered regular drinks and 4 cans of Tiger Beer. Ordered 7 dishes and in total cost RM 183 exclude drinks. Drinks in total cost RM53. Totalled up: RM236 We quite enjoy the food. Definitely will come again to order different kind of dishes ! Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Great job Vegetables portion are abundance. Hardly you can find a restaurant that serves this big portion of green veges There’s an interesting layout to the restaurant whereby you need to walk pass the kitchen and then through the backdoor for bigger table seatings. Food: 8/10 Service: 7/10 Ambience: 7/10
A popular choo char kopitiam among locals, it offers a wide selection of seafood & meat dishes & is often crowded during dinner. Pork lovers can choose from their specialties of mui choy pork to dong po ro & braised or roasted knuckles. The mui choy pork was delicious with braised pork belly cooked to the right tenderness. The roasted knuckle however was quite disappointing. While the skin was crusty outside, the meat was tough when it should be tender. The garoupa curry was average while the bitter gourd in runny egg was quite yummy. The fried egg yolk mantis prawns were ok, but portion was quite small. Prices are reasonable. The place tends to be crowded in the evening, so better go early to get a table.
It’s old coffee shop , food very nice and price reasonable, much try
Perfect spot for family dinner. They have variety choice of chinese cook. Their dish is not limited to menu. I like their fast service and kindness. The dishes are delicious and affordable. Usually having long queue as it was famous dinner spot for the locals. There are a lot of parking lots nearby. I do recommend their curry fish and charcoal homemade tofu.
Great local zhu char. Reasonable price and serve size. Charcoal toufu is a must try.
